Laura Bush killed a man in an CAR ACCIDENT in texas after 8 p.m. on Nov. 6, 1963.
The question is why is this here know ? it was over 40 years ago, and it was an accident. ( if oyu know write in comment section )
The Details of the story is, In 1963 accident report say that Laura Bush (then 17 age) ran a stop sign in the Texas crash that killed a friend in another car. The report, adding information to previous reports of the crash, was released to The Associated Press on Wednesday.
Mrs. Bush now is the wife of Republican presidential nominee-to-be George W. Bush, the Texas governor.
According to the two-page accident report, Laura Welch was driving her Chevrolet sedan on a clear night shortly after 8 p.m. on Nov. 6, 1963, when she drove into an intersection and struck a Corvair sedan driven by 17-year-old Michael Douglas.
* The speed of Laura Bush’s car was illegible on the report. The speed limit for the road was 55.
* She did kill her ex-boyfriend.
In May 2000, a two-page police report pertaining to a fatal accident that had taken place near Midland, Texas, in 1963 was made public. It contained the information that 17-year-old Laura Welch had run a stop sign, causing the death of the sole occupant of the vehicle hers had struck. According to that report, the future First Lady had been driving her Chevrolet sedan on a clear night shortly after 8 p.m. on 6 November 1963 when she entered an intersection without heeding the stop sign and there collided with the Corvair sedan driven by 17-year-old Michael Douglas. Also in the car with Laura Welch was a passenger, 17-year-old Judy Dykes.

Though this is an older post, I felt a need to reply in 2010. ABHOR DUI-related accidents and totally agree that the guilty should never forget the irrevocable tragedy they have caused in cases of DUI and vehicular homicide. However, in the interest of setting the record straight regarding Laura Welsh Bush, THERE WERE NO DRUGS NOR WAS THERE ALCOHOL INVOLVED IN THE TRAGIC EVENTS OF NOVEMBER 6, 1963. Sadly, this accident was caused by negligence and failure to stop at a stop sign.
I have read the reports and can not find any indication that Mrs. Bush was drunk, drinking or under the influence of any type of drug, narcotic or otherwise? Please site your reference for our edification or else stop spreading false rumors. I believe that’s called “slander!”

Today, Jan. 20, 2008, as I watched in joy the inauguration of our new President Obama, friends’ conversation brought up that Mrs. Bush had killed someone in a car accident….they thought DUI. As “aware” as I thought I was, I was shocked to hear this and immediately began pursuit of the information…and was sickened by its truth.
I buried my 27 year old son-in-law just four months ago…and my daughter is pregnant with their first baby. Howard was her highschool sweetheart, and she is devastated. She cries at night…”All I want is him to come home…I want to hold him…I want to kiss him…PLEASE….PLEASE!!” and the sobs continue. She sleeps with his coat…the one they cut off his body at the accident. She has turned their darling home into a sanctuary with his pictures all over…but she is going to move from there. The pain is too much. She will take their baby, “Baby Howie”, home to “Daddy’s house”… then move.
We have to write an impact statement for the judge in sentencing the 19 year old, DUI (heroin and marijuana in his system) driver who killed Howie as he could unbelievably just get probabtion! While this 19 year old has a record of drugs and under-age alcohol, assault, retail theft… nothing is on his “court record” because he was under age…and because his mommy and daddy always paid the fines. He was even kicked out of a rehab facility for using…and mommy and daddy took him home, gave him keys to the car, and he went and killed our Howie while this loving–giving–sweet—dedicated–community servant was on his way to work.
What the Laura Bush case has proved is exactly what we keep trying to say… this will be nothing than a faint memory for the DUI killer. His life will go on…he will have a family…he will celebrate holidays…his birthday… while we will have an empty chair for the rest of our lives…while Howard’s baby will never know his wonderful father… while my daughter has been emotionally, physically, and financially devastated… the one who killed will go on. “Time heals all wounds” to those our society allows it… Some say why is it being brought up now? It happened 40 years ago!!! Tell that to Michael Douglas’s parents…to his siblings…to his best friend…to Michael! I will go to my grave hearing my daughter sob, “I am 26 years old and pregnant…I shouldn’t be picking out my husband’s casket!”
